Ways to Give
Complete the Vision!
There are still opportunities to support the Gallagher Stadium project. Alumni and friends of the school are being asked to join Charles Gallagher ’56 and Diane (Bertling) Gallagher ’58 in helping to complete their vision that has enabled CCHS to be the first Toledo-area Catholic high school with its own varsity stadium. The Gallaghers’ $3 million donation toward the stadium completion was announced in September 2006, and the first game was played in the new stadium in September 2007.
Supporting Central Catholic Is An Investment In The Future
Central Catholic High School has been alive and growing for over 90 years thanks to our generous benefactors. With the assistance of our alumni and friends, many students are able to enjoy a comprehensive Catholic education that otherwise would be out of their financial reach. Our campus is being designed to meet the needs of our students far into the future, and we offer programs and activities that provide them with the best opportunities for growth and success.
In order to continue meeting the needs of our students, we consistently rely on Central Catholic’s supporters. Investing in Central Catholic is investing in the leaders of tomorrow. There are many ways to invest… which one is right for you?
Central Catholic uses a Foundation Fund to ensure that gifts to CCHS are handled in an efficient and tax-effective manner. The fund holds, manages, invests, and disburses resources, such as scholarship and capital improvement monies, which are dedicated to the enhancement and growth of the school.
The Annual Fund
Proceeds from the Annual Fund support Central Catholic’s tuition assistance programs. Gifts also benefit the students who perform maintenance, clerical, and other duties before and after school and during the summer to earn tuition money. Many employers offer matching gift programs that can increase your donations to the Annual Fund.
The 360 Club
If you are able to contribute a gift of $500, $1,000, $1,500 or more to Central Catholic, you join a special circle of giving we call the 360 Club. Membership in the 360 Club includes one free ticket to the annual dinner auction with a $500 donation, or two free tickets to the dinner auction with a $1,000 donation. With a $1,500 donation, members receive two free tickets to the dinner auction, two tickets to the Celebrity Wait, two tickets to the annual spring musical, and an invitation to the spring musical’s private reception.
Planned Giving
Planned Giving consists of bequests that benefit Central Catholic. The bequests are prudently invested to earn interest that can be used on a continuous basis while the principal remains intact. They are funded through such entities as wills, trusts, life insurance, charitable gift annuities and retirement plans.
Giving through your will can be a convenient way to leave a lasting legacy to benefit causes in which you believe. Your attorney can assist you in setting aside a specific amount or percentage of your estate, or all or part of what remains after providing for your loved ones.
Trusts are used to make and manage final distribution of assets. A simple amendment is often all that is required to arrange a charitable trust.
Giving through life insurance involves gifting existing policies or assigning life insurance proceeds – that are no longer needed for your family protection – to charitable beneficiaries. Those who have group life insurance through their employers may consider making a beneficiary change to leave a portion to charity.
A charitable gift annuity makes it possible to transfer cash, real estate or marketable securities (such as mutual funds and individual stocks or bonds) to Central Catholic High School. In exchange, fixed payments will be made to you or to you and another person (spouse, family member or friend) for as long as you live. Retirement plans, which may have accumulated assets that will be subject to income and possible estate taxes at your death, may be used as charitable gifts, resulting in significant tax savings for your heirs.
Irish Legacy Guild
Those who make a bequest to Central Catholic High School through a planned gift may choose to be recognized as a member of Central Catholic’s Irish Legacy Guild. Irish Legacy Guild members receive an invitation to the Annual Appreciation Dinner and are acknowledged in the annual President’s Report.
Shamrock Scholarship Program
Shamrock scholarships are those made in lump sum form as a one-time benefit to an individual student. These scholarships may be made in someone’s name or anonymously, and they may be designated for a particular department, parish, academic status, or level of financial need.
Event Participation and Sponsorship
Attending or volunteering at any of Central Catholic’s fund-raisers is an easy and enjoyable way to give back to the school. Events throughout the year include the Celebrity Wait, annual spring musical, Irish Open golf outing, and Dinner Auction. There are sponsorship opportunities associated with most of these events. Contact the CCHS Office of Institutional Advancement for more details.
Memorial Gifts
A memorial gift consists of a one-time donation in honor of a deceased loved one. Simply requesting charitable contributions to Central Catholic High School through the obituary or the funeral home can create a lasting legacy and a loving tribute to that special person.
The Millennium Campaign
With the help of our alumni and the Toledo community, Central Catholic will be able to maintain the excellence that our students deserve and enhance the learning environment by creating new facilities and making improvements to its current infrastructure.
The Millennium Campaign will fund the following:
- Classroom renovations
- Infrastructure improvements
- A new performing arts center and a modernized, relocated arts department
- Athletic stadium expansion
The Millennium Campaign will also fund endowments for student scholarships and faculty salary enhancement. An unrestricted endowment is the most effective means to ensure an ongoing source of new revenue that will allow us to control increases in tuition.
