Girls’ Basketball Demolishes Springfield on Road, 73-40

The Central Catholic girls’ basketball team claimed a 73-40 victory against Springfield on Saturday in the Field House. With the impressive road win, the Fighting Irish improve to 5-3 on the season.

Senior Brooklyn Vaughn led a balanced CCHS offense with 17 points.

Sophomore Ava Pietras added 15 points for the Scarlet & Gray, followed closely by senior Corniya Clay and sophomore Nina Stevens with 13 and 11 points, respectively.

Kalaia Taylor paced the Blue Devils with a game-high 18 points, and A’leah Hodges scored 17.

Earlier in the day, the CCHS junior varsity squad registered a 28-6 triumph against Springfield. 

Central Catholic will return to the court against rival Notre Dame Academy on Wednesday, Jan. 10 at 7:30 p.m. at NDA. A year ago, CCHS swept the regular-season series vs. the Eagles, winning 59-52 on the road (January 5) and 50-38 at home (February 2).
