Office of Institutional Advancement Welcomes Two New Faces

Michelle (Gallagher) McVicker, Class of 1992, joined the Office of Institutional Advancement in January as the donor cultivation coordinator.  She transitioned from working as Central Catholic’s main office secretary, a position she held since November 2021.

As a donor cultivation coordinator, Michelle is responsible for planning Central Catholic’s fundraising events.  “From the annual Scholarship Gala, to the Athletic Department Golf Outing, to class reunions, much time and effort goes into planning every detail, and I thought I would be really great at it,” Michelle said.  “I was an administrative assistant for many years, and whether it was a lunch meeting with three people or 100, I gained a lot of experience planning these types of things and loved every minute of it.”

Michelle’s family has always told her that event planning is her calling.  “I love it,” she said.  “I love working with all groups of people and vendors, and finding great things about our community that you may not know existed”.

As a student at CCHS, Michelle was involved in student government for four years and served as class president as a sophomore.  She earned an associate degree in office administration from Owens Community College, and she spent 21 years as an administrative assistant at Mercy Health prior to joining the Central Catholic staff.

Michelle and her husband of 25 years, Greg, have two daughters, Megan (22) and Allison (17).  Michelle enjoys watching her children in their extracurricular activities.

“If I didn't love my four years of high school, I wouldn't be back working at CCHS,” Michelle said.  “This place is amazing!  My favorite part is watching the kids grow.  Knowing some students come to me for advice, or even a shoulder to cry on, means the world to me.  It shows they trust me, and I may be doing something good in their lives.”

Lucy Dupes is Central Catholic’s new database coordinator for the Office of Institutional Advancement.  Her job involves managing our donor/alumni database, tracking our donations and donation patterns, creating online donation links, sending out IRS thank you letters, and helping to facilitate fundraising events.

Lucy graduated from Bishop Watterson High School in Columbus and has a bachelor's degree in chemical engineering from the University of Toledo.

“I started working at Central Catholic to be part of the community of folks who are building up Toledo,” Lucy said.  “I love Toledo!  I have enjoyed being a part of the CCHS staffulty so far because of the huge, warm family welcome I receive everywhere I look.”

Lucy loves to run when she has the time and the motivation, and if she’s especially motivated, she loves to read.  “I have found a passion for baking without eggs, which has really expanded my knowledge of baking,” she added.  “I previously worked as a refinery process and commercial engineer at the BP (now Cenovus) refinery in Oregon, so I also have a passion for math and science (and data!).”
