Women’s History Month Q&A - Mallory Lenhart

Mallory Lenhart is in her 2nd year teaching Freshman World Studies and Sophomore US History at Central Catholic High School. Lenhart was recently named the girls’ volleyball head coach at CCHS in early February. She had been an assistant varsity coach in the volleyball program for the past 2 years.

What advice would you give to women in your respective field?
My best advice would be to find excellent mentors and borrow bits and pieces from them to create your own style. There are many women we study in class that serve as my mentors, as well! Additionally, it doesn't hurt to expect the unexpected, walk-in humility, and spread love wherever you go.

Tell us about a woman you looked up to & why?
There are so many women in my life, coaches, teachers, teammates, classmates, & other trailblazers, who have shaped me into the woman I am today. A woman that has inspired me my entire life is my grandmother, Marsha Ryan. Though she passed away when I was young, she completely changed the way I see the world. She worked tirelessly as a nurse and teacher and had a true gift of caring for others. She could find the good in every single person she met, even if she had to dig for it! She was a wonderful example of the very best qualities a woman has to offer - elegance, charisma, intelligence, & strength.

What does Women's History Month mean to you?
Women's History Month is a celebration of feminine strength and an acknowledgement that God created women uniquely. There are several women in history and in the present, like Sandra Day O'Connor, Corrie ten Boom, Clare Boothe Luce, Ida B. Wells, Kerri Walsh Jennings, Clara Barton, Margaret Thatcher, & Allyson Felix, who remind me of the very distinct qualities, perspectives, and talents women have used to change the world.

What makes Central Catholic High School a SPECIAL place?
CCHS is a special place because of the mark it leaves on all who enter. I have such a deep appreciation for the Irish tradition, the emphasis on faith, and the genuineness of the staffulty. Also, I don't think you will ever meet a more exuberant student body!
