6 Fighting Irish Earn All-CHSL Accolades

Six members of the Central Catholic softball team garnered All-CHSL accolades, the Catholic High School League announced this week.

Highlighting the Scarlet & Gray’s selections were junior Addison Brinkman, junior Ella Schuberg, and sophomore Makenzie Coleman, who were named to the All-Catholic Team. 

Coleman hit a team-high .659 (54-for-82) with 38 runs scored, 14 doubles, 3 triples, 5 home runs, and 25 RBI. She also paced the team in on-base percentage (.659) and on-base plus slugging percentage (1.764).  Brinkman batted .575 (46-for-80) with 25 runs scored, 10 doubles, and 23 RBI.  Schuberg posted a 12-5 ledger in the circle with a squad-best 181 strikeouts and a 1.79 ERA in 90.0 innings. She also hit .536 (30-for-65) with 12 runs scored and 16 RBI.

Three Fighting Irish also received All-League honors. They included senior Kelly Kitz, senior Angelina Martinez, and sophomore Alexis Rayfield.

Kitz batted .373 (25-for-67) during the spring, followed closely by Rayfield (.300, 18-for-60), and Martinez (.286, 18-for-63), respectively.

In addition, Schuberg was tabbed to the All-Academic squad.

The trio of Brinkman, Schuberg, and Kitz are collected all-conference recognition for the 3rd-straight year.

CCHS, which won the CHSL Cardinal Division Championship in its 1st season in the league, finished with a 14-11 overall record under the direction of 1st-year Head Coach Cory Bryan, including a 10-4 mark in the CHSL.
