Boys’ Basketball Loses to Rival St. Francis de Sales on Road, 57-44

The Central Catholic boys’ basketball team suffered a 57-44 loss against rival St. Francis de Sales on Monday in “The Pit.”  With the non-league loss, the Fighting Irish fall to 10-9 on the season.

Sophomore Cayden Kynard paced CCHS with 18 points, while junior Draden Wardrop had 10 points. 

The Scarlet & Gray was without the services of 2024-25 CHSL All-Catholic honoree Manny Johnson.  A junior, Johnson is averaging 13.2 points, 3.9 assists, & 2.2 steals per game.

Jameson Heck led the host Knights with 18 points, followed closely by Raheem Brown with 16 points.  Alan Horton also contributed 11 points in the matchup, helping SFDS bounce back from a 62-40 loss vs. Central Catholic on January 14 in the Sullivan Center.

Earlier in the evening, the CCHS freshmen team dropped a 43-37 decision vs. St. Francis de Sales, while the junior varsity squad sustained a 47-35 road loss.

Central Catholic will return to the hardwood against Michigan Collegiate on Friday, February 21 for its regular-season finale at 6 p.m.
