Boys’ Basketball Manhandles Fremont Ross in Division III District Semifinals, 76-41
The Central Catholic boys’ basketball team manhandled Fremont Ross, 76-41, in the Division III District Semifinals on Tuesday at Lake High School. With the emphatic post-season win, CCHS improves to 12-10 overall.
Defensively, the No. 1 seed Fighting Irish limited the Little Giants to 10 points or less in 3 of the 4 quarters, helping them advance to the District Finals for the 5th-straight year.
Offensively, the Scarlet & Gray found its groove on the neutral court, with 4 players tallying at least 12 points. Sophomore Isaiah Mack-Russell led the way with a game-high 18 points.
Junior Draden Wardrop added 15 points in the lopsided win, followed closely by junior Kaeden Carruthers and sophomore Cayden Kynard with 12 pointe each. As a team, 8 Fighting Irish registered a field goal in the 35-point triumph, enabling them to top the 75-point plateau for the 6th time this winter.
Makai Lee paced No. 4 seed Fremont Ross with 12 points.
Central Catholic will now face No. 2 seed Sylvania Southview in the District Finals on Friday, February 28 at 6 p.m. at Lake. The Cougars (20-4) rolled past No. 3 seed Rogers, 70-48, in the other District Semifinal contest. Tickets for Friday’s matchup must be purchased at ohsaa.org/tickets.
