Boys’ Basketball Dismantles Bowsher in Season Opener, 92-32

The Central Catholic boys’ basketball team secured a convincing 92-32 victory against Bowsher on Tuesday in its season opener in the Sullivan Center. 

The Fighting Irish (1-0) jumped out a commanding 35-6 advantage after the opening 8 minutes vs. the Blue Racers and never looked back. 

Sophomore Isaiah Mack-Russell paced a balanced Scarlet & Gray attack with 21 points.  A season ago, Mack-Russell averaged a team-high 15.3 points per game, shooting 47.9 percent (146-of-305) from the field, en route to being named Division II Honorable Mention All-Ohio. 

Junior Draden Wardop also contributed 19 points in the non-conference matchup, followed by junior Manny Johnson and sophomore Cayden Kynard with 13 and 11 points, respectively.  As a team, 10 Fighting Irish registered a field goal in the 60-point home triumph.

Defensively, CCHS limited Bowsher to 8 points or less in 3 of the 4 quarters.   

Aiden Boschen led the Blue Racers (0-5) with 13 points.

Earlier in the evening, the CCHS freshman team claimed a 50-25 victory vs. Bowsher, while the junior varsity squad tallied a 62-34 home win.

The Fighting Irish will return to the court vs. Detroit Catholic Central on Friday, December 13 at home, starting with the freshmen contest at 4:15 p.m.
