Central Catholic Dominates Competition at Bill Krause Invitational

The Central Catholic boys’ & girls’ track & field teams dominated the competition at the Bill Krause Invitational on Saturday at Frost-Kalnow Stadium. The Fighting Irish combined for a whopping 11 first-place finishes and established three meet records between the two programs at the one-day event hosted by Tiffin Columbian High School.

The boys’ squad won the team championship with 92 points, while the girls’ program finished tied for first with Margaretta with 82 points. A total of 13 teams participated in Saturday’s invite.

Both boys’ and girls’ programs set meet records in the 4x200 meter relay. In addition, junior Solomon King established an event record in the 200 meter dash.  

On the girls’ side, the Scarlet & Gray also placed first in the 4×100 meter and 4×400 meter relays, while junior Mary Ellis won the 400 meter dash, classmate Jayla Watson was first in the 300 meter hurdles and freshman Nyla King crossed the finish line first in the 200 meter dash.

On the boys’ side, CCHS also finished first in the 4x100 meter and 4x400 meter relays, while Solomon King once again outsprinted the competition in the 100 meter dash.

The Fighting Irish will return to the track on Friday, April 29 for the Knight Relays (boys’) and Erme Relays (girls’). The Knight Relays is scheduled to start at 4 pm at St. Francis de Sales School, while the Erme Relays will also begin at 4 pm at Whitmer High School.
