Central Catholic to Present the Play, Leaving Iowa, on November 4-5 at Ohio Theatre
Central Catholic High School’s Drama Club will present the play, Leaving Iowa: A Comedy about Family Vacations, on Saturday, Nov. 4 at 1 and 7 p.m., and Sunday, Nov. 5 at 7 p.m. The show will take place at the historic Ohio Theatre (3114 Lagrange Street in Toledo). All tickets are general admission and are available for $12 at centralcatholic.org/tickets. The play’s humor transcends generations. Audience members young and old will identify with the many glories and woes of car travel and will enjoy reminiscing about their own trips as the main character recalls family vacations gone by.
This year's production will be the 1st full-length fall play to be performed by Central Catholic students since 2018. They will return to the Ohio Theatre, where CCHS has historically performed plays, and it is located just minutes away from the school. “I chose Leaving Iowa because, quite frankly, the play is hilarious no matter what your age,” said Angela Mills, Central Catholic’s drama teacher and Drama Club moderator. “Every single character is so unique and will give the entire cast room to learn how to create vibrant characters.”
Leaving Iowa, by Tim Clue and Spike Manton, premiered to critical acclaim at Jeff Daniels' Purple Rose Theater, where it broke box office records and was nominated for “Best New Play” in the country by the Detroit Free Press.
