Central Catholic Welcomes Newest Members into National Honor Society
Central Catholic welcomed 40 new inductees into the Rev. Raymond G. Kirsch Chapter of the National Honor Society on Thursday in the Sullivan Center. Students were named to this exclusive group based on the four pillars of scholarship, service, leadership & character.
To qualify for NHS, students must be a sophomore or junior with at least a 3.75 cumulative GPA and pass a discipline check. They must also complete an application, which includes writing an essay on why they feel they would be a good fit for the club. In addition, they have to obtain faculty and peer signatures to vouch for their character. And lastly, they must take part in an interview with a current NHS officer before the faculty council determines those who will be accepted.
“Last night was a true celebration of the accomplishments of these 40 students,” said Head of School Kevin Parkins. “I’m super excited to introduce a new group into this club. What a testament it is for all of their hard work and commitment. This ceremony was an all-around great event.”
