Football Manhandles Rival St. Francis de Sales to Claim 5th-Straight TRAC Championship, 48-7
The Central Catholic football team manhandled rival St. Francis de Sales, 48-7, on Friday in its regular-season finale in the Glass Bowl. With the dominating win, the Fighting Irish improve to 9-1 overall, 7-0 in the Three Rivers Athletic Conference.
CCHS scored 5 touchdowns in the first half to set the tone versus the Knights (2-8, 1-6 TRAC), helping the Scarlet & Gray secure its 5th-straight TRAC championship. More importantly, the Fighting Irish registered their 21st-consecutive win in the series and successfully hold onto the coveted Irish-Knight Trophy. Central Catholic has not lost to its rival since 2003.
Senior RB Chris Edmonds and senior QB Ty’Waun Clark each accounted for three touchdowns for CCHS. Edmonds had TD runs of 50 and 12 yards in the first quarter & added a 9-yard score in the second period. The 2021 1st-team All-TRAC honoree finished with a game-high 121 yards on 14 carries, topping the century mark for the 9th-straight game.
Clark was credited with TD runs of 1 and 42 yards, as well as a 42-yard touchdown pass. He completed an efficient 9 of 11 passes for 150 yards.
The Fighting Irish, who have won 32-consecutive games against TRAC opponents, will now wait until Sunday to find out their first-round postseason opponent when the OHSAA State Playoff pairings are announced.
