Football Blanks Revere in 2nd Round of OHSAA Division III State Playoffs, 48-0

The Central Catholic football team blanked Revere, 48-0, on Friday in the 2nd round of the Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA) Division III State Playoffs in Gallagher Stadium.  With the dominating post-season victory, CCHS improves to 11-1 overall.

The Fighting Irish tallied points on each of their initial 6 possessions against the Minutemen, helping the 2-time reigning state champions build an insurmountable 42-0 advantage at the intermission.  For the 2nd-straight week, the Scarlet & Gray played the 2nd half with a running clock and extended its postseason winning streak to 14 games.

Central Catholic spread the wealth around vs. Revere, as 6 players found the end zone.  Junior RB Jeremiah Fuller sparked the offensive onslaught with a season-high 93 yards rushing and 2 TDs.  In total, 5 of the 7 scores came on the ground.  CCHS posted a massive 456-33 edge in total yards, finishing with 277 rushing yards and 179 passing yards.  As a team, Central Catholic averaged a whopping 8.94 yards per carry.

In addition to a strong running attack, CCHS was sensational through the air.  Senior QB Isaiah Fox (10-of-14, 148 yards, 1 TD) and sophomore QB Ali Beyboun (3-of-3, 31 yards, 1 TD) combined to complete 76.5 percent (13-of-17 passes) of their passes.

Defensively, Central Catholic limited Revere to less than 5 1st downs, posting its 2nd shutout this fall.

A member of the Suburban League American Division, the No. 9 seed Minutemen wrap up their season with a 7-5 overall record.

With the victory, CCHS will face No. 12 seed Lexington (7-5) on Friday, November 15 in the Region 10 Semifinals at 7 p.m. at a neutral site. The Minutemen defeated No. 4 seed Rocky River, 49-29, on the road.
