Football Pulls Away from Findlay in TRAC Opener, 50-17

The Central Catholic football team secured a 50-17 triumph against Findlay on Friday in its Three Rivers Athletic Conference opener in Donnell Stadium. With the 33-point road victory, the Fighting Irish improve to 3-1 overall, 1-0 in the league.

CCHS outscored the host Trojans (1-3) 21-0 in the second half to stretch its TRAC winning streak to 26-consecutive games.

Senior RB Chris Edmonds ran wild in the conference opener, totaling a season-high 249 yards and four scores. Edmonds has now topped the century mark in each of the last three games, all Central Catholic victories.

Senior QB Ty’Waun Clark also had an excellent game throwing the ball, finishing with 176 yards passing and one touchdown, helping CCHS claim its 10th-straight triumph vs. Findlay in the series. Senior WR Javon Murphy was Clark's favorite target, hauling in four passes for 92 yards.

Central Catholic will return to the gridiron vs. arch-rival St. John's Jesuit on Friday, Sept. 16. The opening kick against the Titans is slated for 7 pm in Gallagher Stadium. A season ago, the Fighting Irish defeated SJJ, 38-0, at Lyden Field during the regular season. The rivals then met in the second round of the OHSAA Playoffs, with CCHS advancing by virtue of a dominating 54-0 triumph.
