Central Catholic's New Priest Leader

Central Catholic High School is pleased to welcome Father David D. Kidd.  He was named by Bishop Thomas as the priest leader at Central Catholic and the pastor of St. Joseph Parish in Toledo and started on July 1, 2019.

His impressive background and leadership within the diocese of Toledo and the community will benefit Central Catholic.  I am confident he will continue to lead our students, faculty and staff in the right spiritual direction.” said Head of School, Kevin F. Parkins.

Fr. David grew up in Lima, Ohio, with his parents and three siblings. St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church was his home parish. After graduating from Lima Central Catholic High School, he was a U.S. soldier for over three years in the Army National Guard for the State of Ohio, deploying to Kuwait with the 37th Infantry Brigade Combat Team in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. During his time in the Army, Father David also attended Ashland University studying political science and economics.

After his deployment, Fr. David began seminary studies and graduated from the Pontifical College Josephinum in Columbus, Ohio with a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy. He was sent to Rome, Italy by then Bishop Blair for priestly formation and graduated from the Pontifical Gregorian University completing a Bachelor’s in Sacred Theology. Fr. David was ordained a transitional deacon on March 28, 2015, and he was ordained a priest for the Diocese of Toledo on June 25, 2016. 

He has lived and worked at a number of different assignments in preparation for the priesthood. His first summer as a priest was at Toledo Regina Coeli Parish as the parochial vicar. Father David returned to Rome and completed his License in Sacred Theology with a focus on Fundamental Theology at the Pontifical Gregorian University. Prior to joining Central Catholic, he was the parochial vicar of Saint Rose Parish in Perrysburg. 

Father David is very excited about his role as CCHS priest leader, “I’m looking forward to being in the classroom, on the sports field and in the chapel with our students, faculty, staff and alumni and journeying with them in growing in relationship with Jesus Christ and his church.” He believes, "We are playing a fundamentally different game as a Catholic school. Our kids can get into prestigious colleges and awarded scholarships, but if they don’t get into heaven, we have failed them. We, as a Catholic School, have a bigger and better mission."
