Girls’ Basketball Falls Short vs. Start in Season Opener, 44-38

The Central Catholic girls’ basketball team suffered a 44-38 setback against Start on Saturday in its season opener in the Sullivan Center. 

The visiting Spartans outscored the Fighting Irish 23-18 in the 1st half to spoil Head Coach Clifton Hodges’ debut.  

Junior Serinity Bolden paced the Scarlet & Gray with a game-high 18 points, followed closey by classmate Nina Stevens with 14 points.

Honey Harper led Start with 14 points, while Jade Latson and Laverta Latson each contributed 11 points.

Earlier in the day, the CCHS junior varsity squad tallied a 38-37 home triumph vs. Start.

The Fighting Irish will return to the hardwood against rival Notre Dame Academy on Wednesday, December 4 on the road, starting with the freshmen contest at 4:45 p.m.
