Girls’ Basketball Defeats Marian in CHSL Matchup, 36-33

The Central Catholic girls’ basketball team defeated Marian, 36-33, on Saturday in the Cicerone Court.  With the road victory, CCHS improves to 2-8 overall, 2-2 in the Catholic High School League.

The Fighting Irish outscored the host Mustangs 11-7 in the 4th quarter to help propel them to their 2nd win on the season.

Junior Nina Stevens paced the Scarlet & Gray with 15 points, including 6 in the pivotal final stanza.

Molly McLead led the Mustangs with a game-high 16 points.

Earlier in the day, the CCHS freshmen team suffered a 35-5 setback vs. Marian, while the junior varsity squad dropped a 35-18 decision.

Central Catholic will return to the hardwood against arch-rival St. Ursula on Monday, January 13, starting with the freshmen game at 4:15 p.m. in the Sullivan Center Gym.  Tickets for Monday’s CHSL contest can be purchased at bit.ly/3EjJhky.
