Girls’ Basketball Tips Off 2022-23 Campaign with 46-32 Win vs. Perkins

The Central Catholic girls’ basketball team opened its 2022-23 season with a 46-32 victory against Perkins on Saturday in the newly remodeled Sullivan Center. With the non-conference win, the Fighting Irish improve to 1-0 on the season.

The Scarlet & Gray outscored the Pirates 16-5 in the pivotal 4th quarter to tally the home triumph.

Senior Jai’Lynne Hitt-Swartz paced CCHS with 14 points, while classmate Mary Ellis scored 13. Junior Brooklyn Vaughn added 9 points in the victory. This trio accounted for 36 of Central Catholic's 46 points.

Kendall Zeiher had a game-high 15 points to lead the Pirates.

Earlier in the day, the CCHS junior varsity defeated Perkins, 36-27.

Central Catholic will return to the hardwood against Start on Wednesday, Nov. 23. The opening tip versus the Spartans is slated for 7:15 pm in the Sullivan Center.
