Kizer, State Champion Football Team Among Central Catholic Athletic Hall of Fame Inductees
Central Catholic will induct 9 new individual members and 1 new team into its Athletic Hall of Fame on Monday, April 28 at Parkway Place (2592 Parkway Plaza, Maumee, 43537). Social hour and cash bar begin at 5 p.m., and the dinner and induction ceremony will commence at 6 p.m.

This is the 39th class to be inducted into the Central Catholic High School Athletic Hall of Fame. The first inductee was Frank Gilhooley (Class of 1942) in 1981.
“This Athletic Hall of Fame induction class is one of the most decorated classes in Central Catholic history,” said Greg Dempsey (Class of 1990), CCHS Athletic Director and Head Football Coach. “This class is loaded with All League, All State, and state champion student-athletes. They were truly champions on and off the field. We are also honoring a coach that mentored and coached multiple athletes to state championships, and a team that won what is considered by many the most exciting state championship game in OHSAA history. It will be a great night of celebration for Central Catholic.”

James Wells, Class of 1971 - Citizens Award
The Citizens Award is presented to an individual who has made significant contributions to the Central Catholic athletic program and who serves as a model for today’s student-athletes. James Wells has supported Fighting Irish athletics and academics. He is a member of the 12th Man Club, which is the booster’s club for Fighting Irish football. Over the years, he has assisted the football team in obtaining new lockers and equipment, and he has brought in motivational speakers to address CCHS students and stafulty.
