TRAC Co-Leader Central Catholic Blanks Oregon Clay, 60-0

The Central Catholic football team kept its hopes alive for a fourth-consecutive Three Rivers Athletic Conference championship with an emphatic 60-0 triumph against Oregon Clay on Friday at Clay Memorial Stadium. With the shutout victory, the Fighting Irish improve to 5-2 overall, 4-0 in the TRAC.

During its five-game unbeaten stretch, CCHS has defeated Olentangy Orange, Findlay, St. John’s Jesuit, Lima Senior and the Eagles (2-5, 0-4 TRAC) by a combined score of 210-18.

Junior QB Ty’Waun Clark passed for 126 yards and three TDs for the TRAC co-leading Irish, helping them secure their 18th-straight victory vs. Oregon Clay. Two of Clark’s TD passes went to senior WR Sam Lee, covering 38 and 7 yards.

The Fighting Irish, who are ranked No. 10 in this week’s Associated Press Division II State Poll, also benefited from interception returns for scores from senior DB Peyton Reasonover and sophomore DB Amir Thomas.

Central Catholic will return to the field against fellow TRAC co-leader Whitmer (6-1, 4-0 TRAC) on Friday, Oct. 8. The opening kick vs. the Panthers is slated for 7 pm in Gallagher Stadium.
