Football Visits Fremont Ross on Friday
The Central Catholic football team will look to remain on top of the Three Rivers Conference (TRAC) standings when the Fighting Irish visit Fremont Ross (7-1, 4-1 TRAC) on Friday, Oct. 15. The opening kick vs. the Little Giants is slated for 7 pm in Don Paul Stadium.
With a victory vs. Fremont Ross, CCHS will claim at least of share of its fourth-straight TRAC championship and 8th overall in the last 11 seasons since the league’s inception in 2011.
Central Catholic (6-2, 5-0 TRAC) is coming off a hard-fought 28-7 triumph against rival Whitmer on Friday in Gallagher Stadium. After a 90-minute lightning delay, the Scarlet & Gray jumped out a 21-0 halftime lead and held the Panthers (6-2, 4-1 TRAC) to a season-low point total to stretch its overall win streak to six-straight contests.
The Fighting Irish, who are ranked No. 7 in the latest Associated Press Division II State Poll, finished with a 396-301 advantage in total offense.
Individually, junior QB Ty'Waun Clark completed eight of 14 passes for 252 yards and one TD and ran for another score. Clark was credited with an 83-yard TD strike to senior WR Josh Lee and a two-yard scoring run.
Junior RB Chris Edmonds added a pair of TD runs, covering 4 and 9 yards, respectively.
Clark in currently third in the TRAC in passing yards (1,528), fourth in completions (99) and fifth in TD passes (14), while senior WR Sam Lee is third in receiving yards (596) and yards per catch (22.1) and sixth in receptions (27).
During its win streak, CCHS has defeated Olentangy Orange, Findlay, St. John’s Jesuit, Lima Senior, Oregon Clay and Whitmer by a combined score of 238-25.
Central Catholic, which is riding a 23-game win streak against TRAC opponents dating back to 2017, is a perfect 9-0 vs. Fremont Ross since the league’s inception in 2011. A season ago, the contest was canceled due to the Coronavirus. In their most recent matchup, the Fighting Irish secured a resounding 50-6 road triumph.
The Little Giants enter Friday’s contest on the heels of a 54-21 road triumph vs. Lima Senior (3-4, 2-3 TRAC).
Fremont Ross is fueled offensively by QB Kaden Holmes, who is pacing the conference in TD passes (25), as well as ranking second in completions (128) and passing yards (1,944) and tied for fourth in TDs scored (8). Holmes’ favorite target is WR Bryson Hammer, who is second in the league in receptions (50) and receiving yards (671) and tied for second in TDs scored (9).

The opening kick vs. the Knights is slated for 7 pm in Gallagher Stadium. CCHS will look to secure its 20th-consecutive win in the series and hold onto the Irish-Knight Trophy. Central Catholic has not lost to its arch rival since 2003.
