Track & Field Opens Spring Season at Springfield Invitational

The Central Catholic girls’ and boys’ track & field teams opened its 2024 season at the Springfield Invitational on Wednesday at Springfield High School. The boys’ team secured 3 1st-place finishes and placed in the Top 3 in 7 events at the 1-day meet, while the girls’ squad posted 4 Top 3 finishes.

Individually for the boys’ team, senior Tim Ciboro II placed 1st in the discus (142’-5”).

In relays, CCHS crossed the finish line 1st in both 4x100-meter and 4x200-meter events.  Senior Jaylen Watson and sophomore Jerome Davis were a part of both victorious squads.

In addition to Watson and Davis, the duo of sophomore Jayse Daniels and sophomore Ian Smith were members of the 4×100-meter relay (43.58), while sophomore Victor Nelson, Jr. and freshman Cle’ondre Davis competed in the 4x200-meter relay (1:32.35).

The Fighting Irish will return to the track tomorrow for the Titan Invitational on the campus of St. John’s Jesuit High School. The 1-day event is slated to begin at 4 pm at Lyden Field.
