- What advice would you give women in your field?
I would simply say to women ... trust your gut and never second guess yourself.
- Tell us about a woman you look up to and why.
I looked up to my Gram, she would have been 101 this year. She showed me that it was possible to balance a family and a career. To be able to do "all the things" that make family members feel special as well as keep a woman "sane" by being able to get away and contribute in a meaningful way in society. She also was the one that showed me what it meant to have faith, and I am forever grateful for her.
- What does Women's History Month mean to you?
WHM is a time to celebrate women and all that they have contributed to society. I think it is also a way to honor the sacrifices some make to have a family and work outside the home. It's hard as I speak from personal experience. Having both is a blessing, and with practice you can achieve a balance so that you are effective in whatever role you are in at the moment.
- What makes Central Catholic a SPECIAL place?
I was hired to teach summer school at Central Catholic right out of college, and I haven't left. Being a part of this faith community influenced my religious path and I attended RCIA classes to become a full member of the Catholic Church. 2550 Cherry Street is a “Special Place” indeed, as the people within these walls become a part of you.
