Syriana Larkins Selected Student of the Month for March
Senior Syriana Larkins is a member of the National Honor Society and the Glee Club. She will be playing the role of Jetsam, one of the moray eels that serve as minions to Ursula the Sea Witch, in Central Catholic’s upcoming spring musical, The Little Mermaid, May 2-4 at the Valentine Theatre. She also helps with the CCHS Freshman Success summer program.
“I chose to attend Central Catholic because I like the environment and the openness everyone provides here, and I appreciate the diversity,” Syriana said.
Outside of school, Syriana works at Sebastiano’s Italian Restaurant. She recently assisted with the St. Patrick of Heatherdowns school musical, helping the children prepare for their scenes. During the summer, she works with at-risk youth with behavioral issues through an organization called New Concepts that addresses their social and emotional needs.
“Syriana is a student full of laughter and spirit, and she is a delight to have in class,” said Randall Pryor, physical education teacher. “Her hard work, her dedication, and her willingness to complete work that she has missed without complaint stand out. She understands what it means to be a high achieving student, and she always comes with a positive attitude and is ready to learn.”
“Syri is a fabulous student who always puts forth her best effort,” said Katie Shanahan, English teacher. “Syri leads her peers with kindness and humility. She is a valuable member of class, with a quick smile while providing answers with insight and thoroughness. Syri is a gem of a human, and we are all better for knowing her.”
After high school, Syriana plans to attend Kent State University to study interior design, and she would also like to get her real estate license.
