What subjects and grade levels do you teach at Central Catholic?
I teach College Prep Biology, Honors Biology, and Advanced Topics in Biology. I see most of the freshman class in biology with some transfer students and upperclassmen. My Advanced Topics course is offered to seniors.
Where did you teach before coming to CCHS?
This will be my fourth year teaching, previously at the college level at Stauzenberger. I taught biology and math courses, anatomy and physiology, and medical ethics. I have also spent the last year tutoring all age groups at Huntington, as well as test prep for the ACT and SAT.
What is your educational background?
I went to Bowling Green High School followed by Bowling Green State University with a degree in neuroscience, and a double minor in chemistry and public health. I also earned a master’s degree at the University of Kentucky in public health with a graduate certificate in maternal & child health.
What inspired you to become a teacher?
My science teachers both in junior high and high school really fueled my passion to work in the field, and I came to realize my passion for teaching when teaching French to elementary-aged children in college.
What made you want to become a teacher at Central Catholic?
I came to CCHS during 8th grade visitations when I was younger, and the school made a lasting impression on me. Once I moved back to the area, I knew I wanted to teach at the high school level and Central Catholic was one of my top choices.
What are your impressions of CCHS so far?
The students are some of the most inspiring groups of young adults I have ever worked with. The staffulty is so supportive of each other and passionate about what CCHS stands for.
