What subjects and grade levels do you teach?
Biology and Honors Biology - 9th grade

How long have you been teaching at Central Catholic?
This is my third year at CCHS!

What is your educational background?
I earned a Bachelor of Science in biology with a minor in chemistry from Michigan State University, and my Master of Arts in teaching from Marian University.

What is the best kept secret about Central Catholic?
The best part of Central Catholic is the people.  I don’t think it’s a secret because everyone knows it after spending a day here.  The students, faculty, and staff all take time to know one another and care about each other.

What inspired you to become a teacher?
I was inspired to become a teacher by my amazing high school science teachers.  My teachers pushed us to ask questions and to make conclusions about the science in the world around us.  Also, in my senior year of high school I was part of a cohort that ran a preschool program. We learned to lesson plan and were responsible for the lessons of a preschool class.  I learned that I loved teaching and working with students to help them make sense of the world around them.

What do you like most about teaching at Central Catholic?
The best part of teaching at Central Cathoic is being part of the Irish family.  I have felt the pride that everyone has in being Irish from the moment I stepped into CCHS.  The school spirit is greater than any other school I have taught at. Irish pride is seen in student’s faith, academics, athletics, and musical performance.  It’s wonderful to be part of such a legacy.
