14 Track & Field Runners Qualify for Division II State Championship
A total of 14 Central Catholic student-athletes have qualified for the Ohio Division II state track & field championship. The two-day meet will take place Friday-Saturday, June 3-4 at the Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium in Columbus.
On the girls’ side, eight members of the Scarlet & Gray have advanced to this weekend’s competition, while six boys qualified for the 114th edition of the championship.
Individually, a total of six Fighting Irish will take part in nine events. In addition, both girls’ and boys’ teams qualified their respective 4x100-, 4x200-, and 4x400-meter relays.
For the girls, senior Tianna Davis, junior Mary Ellis, sophomore Taylor Scribner, and freshman Nyla King will each participate in a team-high three events. For the boys, senior Josh Lee, senior Sam Lee, and junior Solomon King will each compete in a squad-best four events.
