Central Catholic Wraps Up Competition at Division II State Championship with Pair of Top 4 Finishes

The Central Catholic boys’ & girls’ track & field teams wrapped up competition at the Ohio Division II State Championship on Saturday at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium on the campus of The Ohio State University.

The Fighting Irish boys’ squad finished tied for third with 27 points at the two-day meet, while the girls’ team placed fourth with 35 points.

On the girls’ side, CCHS captured state titles in both the 4x100- and 4x200-meter relays. The quartet of senior Tianna Davis, sophomore Taylor Scribner, sophomore Jara Johnson and freshman Nyla King crossed the finish line first in the 4x100-meter relay (48.59), while the team of Davis, Scribner, junior Mary Ellis and King placed first in the 4x200-meter relay (1:41.04). In individual events, King finished fourth in the 100-meter dash (12.39), while Ellis also finished fourth in the 400-meter dash (56.95).

On the boys’ side, the team of senior Sam Lee, senior Jacob King, senior Josh Lee, and junior Solomon King placed second in the 4x200-meter relay (1:27.61). In addition, senior Lance Washington-Roscoe, Jacob King, Josh Lee, and Sam Lee took third in the 4x400-meter relay (3:21.26). Individually, Solomon King registered fourth-place finish in the 100-meter dash (10.82) and fifth in the 200-meter dash (21.83).
