Girls’ Basketball Topples Rival Notre Dame Academy on Road, 50-44

The Central Catholic girls’ basketball team topped rival Notre Dame Academy, 50-44, on Wednesday in the LaValley Gymnasium & Savage Court. With the hard-fought road win, CCHS improves to 6-3 overall, 3-0 in the Catholic High School League (CHSL).

Senior Brooklyn Vaughn paced the Scarlet & Gray with a game-high 19 points, while classmate Corniya Clay contributed 11 points. The Fighting Irish also benefitted from 9 points by sophomore Nina Stevens, helping them capture their 4th win in the last 5 contests.

The Eagles (4-6, 1-1 CHSL) were led by Reagan Quinn with 12 points.

Earlier in the evening, the CCHS freshman team lost 32-25 vs. NDA, while the junior varsity squad suffered a 42-24 road setback.

Central Catholic will return to the court against Lakota West on Saturday, January 13 at 4:30 p.m. at the Classic in the Country at Hiland High School.
