Boys’ Basketball Falters Late at Rival St. John’s Jesuit, 62-54
The Central Catholic boys’ basketball team saw its 3-game winning streak come to an end with a 62-54 setback against rival St. John’s Jesuit on Tuesday in the Titan Dome. With the road loss, CCHS falls to 4-6 overall, 0-2 in the Catholic High School League.
The Titans (9-3, 2-1 CHSL) outscored the Fighting Irish 18-10 in the 4th quarter to help them snap a 4-game losing skid in the series.
Freshman Isaiah Mack-Russell paced the Scarlet & Gray with 15 points, followed closely by senior Isaiah Brenneman and sophomore Draden Wardrop with 12 points each.
Jaylen Murphy scored 13 of his game-high 32 points in the final 8 minutes to lead St John’s Jesuit, while Race Kowalczyk contributed 11 points.
Earlier in the evening, the CCHS freshman team lost 48-33 vs. SJJ, while the junior varsity squad suffered a 51-22 road setback.
