Baseball Defeats Rossford in Division II District Semifinal, 3-2

The Central Catholic baseball team secured a 3-2 victory against Rossford on Thursday in the Division II District Semifinal at Archbold Memorial Park. With the postseason win, CCHS improves to 14-10 overall.

The Fighting Irish scored a single run in the 1st inning and two more in the 6th to help them advance to the district final for the 2nd time in the last 3 seasons.

The Bulldogs made things interesting in the 7th frame, plating 1 run and having 2 runners in scoring position. Fortunately for the Fighting Irish, they stood their ground and limited Rossford’s damage.  

Offensively, senior OF/RHP Brian Bishop went 3-for-3 with 2 runs scored, while junior INF/RHP Jaxon Sanchez finished 2-for-3 with 1 run scored.

On the mound, sophomore RHP Beau Gardner was credited with the win, giving up 1 run with 6 strikeouts in 6.0 innings. Senior RHP/INF Winston Delp earned the save in relief, recording punchouts on 2 of the 3 outs he recorded in the final inning.

Central Catholic will return to the diamond against 4th-ranked Defiance (25-4) on Saturday, May 27 in the District Final at Noon at Archbold Memorial Park.
