Boys’ Basketball Collects No. 1 Seed in Division II Sectional Draw for Millbury District

The Central Catholic boys’ basketball team has been selected as the No. 1 seed in the Division II sectional tourney draw for the Millbury District in the upcoming Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA) State Tournament. In the Northwest District for the 2022-23 season, seeds are determined by Martin RPI ratings.

The Scarlet & Gray has earned the district’s top seed for the 2nd-straight year. A season ago, CCHS captured its 2nd-straight district title.

The Fighting Irish, ranked No. 6 in the latest Associated Press Division II state poll, will play the winner of Otsego-Rogers on Friday, Feb. 24 at 7:30 pm at Bowsher High School.

Tournament play begins on Wednesday, Feb. 22, with the district finals slated for Saturday, March 1 at Lake High School.

Last week, the CCHS girls’ basketball team was also tabbed as the No. 1 seed in the Whitehouse District.

Head Coach Mike Floyd and Central Catholic (14-4, 8-3 TRAC) return to the hardwood vs. rival St. Francis de Sales this evening on the road. Freshman will begin the action against the Knights at 4:45 pm in “The Pit,” followed by the junior varsity and varsity at 6 pm and 7:30 pm, respectively. Back on Jan. 18, CCHS dropped a 48-44 overtime decision vs. St. Francis de Sales in the Sullivan Center. Tickets MUST be purchased online at sfsathletics.org/tickets.
