Girls’ Basketball Garners No. 1 Seed in Division II Sectional Draw for Whitehouse District
The Central Catholic girls’ basketball team has been tabbed as the No. 1 seed in the Division II sectional tourney draw for the Whitehouse District in the upcoming Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA) State Tournament. In the Northwest District for the 2022-23 season, seeds are determined by Martin RPI ratings.
The Scarlet & Gray has garnered the district’s top seed for the 2nd-straight season. A year ago, CCHS captured its 1st district title since 2016.
The Fighting Irish, who are tied for the top spot in this week’s Associated Press Division II state poll, will play No. 8 seed Woodward on Thursday, Feb. 16 at 6 pm at Liberty Center High School.
Tournament play begins on Feb. 16, with the district finals scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 25 at Anthony Wayne High School.
Earlier today, the CCHS boys’ basketball team was also selected as the No. 1 seed in the Millbury District.
The 2-time reigning TRAC champions return to the hardwood against rival Whitmer on Thursday, Feb. 9. The opening tip versus the Panthers is scheduled for 7:30 pm at the Whitmer Field House. Tickets for Thursday’s league matchup MUST be pre-purchased online at bit.ly/3CwDEiM. Back on Jan. 9, CCHS defeated the Panthers, 49-33, in the Sullivan Center.
