Boys’ Basketball Loses at TRAC Rival Findlay, 66-56

The Central Catholic boys’ basketball team suffered a 66-56 loss against Findlay on Tuesday in the FHS Gymnasium. With the setback, CCHS falls to 15-3 overall, 8-3 in the Three Rivers Athletic Conference.

The Fighting Irish, ranked No. 4 in last week’s Associated Press Division II state poll, were outscored by the host Trojans 29-11 in the first half, snapping their six-game winning streak.

Junior Kechan Johnson Jr. led the Scarlet & Gray with 18 points, while classmate Chico Johnson had 13 points.

Max Roth paced the host Trojans (12-5, 6-5 TRAC) with a contest-best 26 points, followed by Jake Bishop with 21 points.

Earlier in the evening, the CCHS freshman team registered a 56-39 victory against Findlay, while the junior varsity squad dropped a 51-40 decision.

Central Catholic will return to the hardwood against TRAC foe Fremont Ross on Friday, Feb. 4. Freshman will begin the action versus the Little Giants at 4:45 pm in “The Purple Pit” or Ross High Gymnasium, followed by the junior varsity and varsity at 6 pm and 7:30 pm, respectively.
