Boys’ Basketball Loses to Rival St. Francis de Sales in Overtime, 48-44
The Central Catholic boys’ basketball team suffered a 48-44 overtime setback against arch-rival St. Francis de Sales on Wednesday in the Sullivan Center. With the home loss, CCHS falls to 10-3 overall, 5-2 in the Three Rivers Athletic Conference.
Ranked No. 3 in the 1st Division II AP state poll, the Fighting Irish were outscored 7-3 in the extra period, snapping a 3-game winning streak in the series.
Junior Isaiah Brenneman paced the Scarlet & Gray with 12 points. Brenneman has now scored in double digits in 9-consecutive contests.
Jameson Heck paced the visiting Knights with a game-high 17 points, while Reche Dixon contributed 10 points.
Earlier in the evening, the CCHS freshman squad registered a 22-21 win against St. Francis de Sales, while the junior varsity team secured a 55-45 victory.
Central Catholic will return to the hardwood versus rival St. John’s Jesuit on Friday, Jan. 20. The opening tip vs. the Titans is slated for 7:30 pm in the Titan Dome.
