Boys’ Basketball Manhandles Bowsher in Non-League Matchup, 84-49
The Central Catholic boys’ basketball team registered a convincing 84-49 victory against Bowsher on Tuesday in a non-league matchup in the Bowsher Main Gym. With the impressive 35-point road triumph, the Fighting Irish improve to 5-7 overall.
CCHS jumped out to a 25-10 lead vs. the Blue Racers after the opening 8 minutes and did look back, snapping a mini 2-game losing skid.
Sophomore Draden Wardop and freshman Isaiah Mack-Russell paced the victorious Scarlet & Gray with 19 and 18 points, respectively.
CCHS also benefited from 11 points by senior Isaiah Brenneman and a season-high 10 points from sophomore Cailan Hornbeak to notch a season-high offensive output.
In addition, sophomore Manny Johnson contributed 7 points, a season-high 7 assists, and 5 steals.
Codie Thames paced the Blue Racers (3-10) with 17 points.
Earlier in the evening, the CCHS freshman team secured a 36-17 win vs. Bowsher, while the junior varsity squad claimed a 47-32 road victory.
The Fighting Irish will return to action against Detroit Catholic Central in a Catholic High School League (CHSL) encounter on Friday, January 19 at the Bernie Holowicki Court at 7 p.m.
