Boys’ Basketball Prevails vs. No. 2 Seed Scott in Division II District Finals, 44-41

The Central Catholic boys’ basketball team posted a 44-41 victory against No. 2 seed Scott in the Division II district finals on Saturday on the campus of Lake High School. With the come-from-behind triumph, CCHS improves to 12-14 on the season.

The No. 5 seed Fighting Irish outscored the Bulldogs 16-10 in the 4th quarter to help them secure their 3rd district title in the last 4 years.  Sophomore Manny Johnson and freshman Isaiah Mack-Russell accounted for 14 of the 16 points in the final period to extend CCHS’s winning streak to a season-high 6-consecutive games.

For the game, Mack-Russell led CCHS with 17 points, while Johnson contributed 13 points.

Daryl Barnett, Jr. paced the Bulldogs with a game-high 18 points, followed by Mario Peters with 12 points.

Central Catholic will return to the hardwood against Rocky River Lutheran West in the regional semifinals on Thursday, March 14 at 6 p.m. in the Stroh Center on the campus of Bowling Green State University. Tickets will be available at www.ohsaa.org/tickets.
