Boys’ Basketball Outlasts Previously Unbeaten Perrysburg, 55-54

The Central Catholic boys’ basketball team claimed a hard-fought 55-54 victory against Perrysburg on Thursday in the Sullivan Center. With the non-conference triumph, CCHS improves to 6-1 overall.

The Scarlet & Gray outscored the previously unbeaten Yellow Jackets 17-9 in the pivotal third quarter to successfully bounce back from its first loss of the season earlier this week.

Junior Chico Johnson led the Fighting Irish with 13 points, while senior Sam Lee added 11.

Joey Bowman had a game-high 18 points for Perrysburg, followed by Matt Watkins with 16 and Kannon Klusmeyer had 10, respectively.

Earlier in the evening, the CCHS Freshmen team dropped a 46-41 decision against the Yellow Jackets in double overtime, while the Junior Varsity squad lost 31-21.

Central Catholic will return to the hardwood against Fairview High School on Wednesday, Dec. 29 at the Cedar Point Sports Center as part of the Jingle Bell Jam at 2 pm.
