Boys’ Basketball Secures Share of TRAC Title with Victory vs. Clay, 76-53
The Central Catholic boys’ basketball team secured a share of the Three Rivers Athletic Conference championship with a 76-53 win against Clay on Friday in the Potter Field House. The state ranked Fighting Irish (18-4, 11-3 TRAC) split the TRAC title with Whitmer (14-8, 11-3 TRAC).
Senior Noah Langford led the No. 6 ranked Scarlet & Gray with a career-high 26 points, while sophomore Makhi Leach had 15 points.
Lucas Jeremy paced the host Eagles (2-20, 0-14 TRAC) with 17 points, followed by Mason Heintschel with 10 points.
Selected as the No. 1 seed in the Division II sectional tourney draw for the Millbury District, Central Catholic will play the winner of Otsego-Rogers on Friday, Feb. 24 at 7:30 pm at Bowsher High School. Tournament play begins on Wednesday, Feb. 22, with the district finals slated for Saturday, March 1 at Lake High School.
CCHS is the district’s top seed for the 2nd-straight year. A season ago, they captured their 2nd-straight district title.
