Boys’ Basketball Suffers 73-52 Setback at Solon in Non-League Matchup

The Central Catholic boys’ basketball team suffered a 73-52 setback at Solon on Thursday in non-league action in the Solon Schools Main Gym. With the loss, CCHS falls to 1-3 on the season.

The Comets converted 8 3-point field goals and outscored the Fighting Irish 43-31 in the 2nd half to hand the Scarlet & Gray its 3rd-straight loss.  

Sophomore Draden Wardrop led Central Catholic with a season-high 23 points on the strength of 3 triples. Freshman Isaiah Mack-Russell added 14 points, while senior Isaiah Brenneman had 8 points. The trio of Wardrop, Mack-Russell, and Brenneman accounted for 87 percent (45 of 52) of CCHS’s point total.

Amir Jones paced the Comets with 22 points, followed closely by Cam Brown and Luke Kormuth with 19 and 16 points, respectively.

Earlier in the evening, the CCHS freshman team suffered a 58-40 setback vs. Solon, while the junior varsity squad dropped a 53-49 road decision.

Central Catholic will return to the court against Rossview (TN) on Wednesday, Dec. 27 at the NXT LVL HoopsFest at 4 p.m. on the campus of Christ Presbyterian Academy in Nashville.
