Girls’ Basketball Manhandles Divine Child in CHSL Matchup, 63-33

The Central Catholic girls’ basketball team manhandled Divine Child, 63-33, on Friday at DC High School. With the impressive road triumph, the Fighting Irish improve to 4-2 on the season, 2-0 in the Catholic High School League (CHSL).

Senior Corniya Clay paced the Scarlet & Gray with 19 points, followed by classmate Brooklyn Vaughn with 14 points, 6 rebounds, and 3 steals.

Senior Sophia Farrugia also contributed 6 points, a team-high 10 caroms, and a squad-best 6 thefts to help CCHS secure its 3rd-straight victory.

Earlier in the day, the CCHS freshman team secured a 27-23 win against the Lady Falcons, while the junior varsity squad suffered a close 42-39 setback.

CCHS will return to the court against Springfield on Saturday, Jan. 6 at 7:15 p.m. at Springfield High School.
