Central Catholic to Host Nationals Dance Showcase Featuring OSU, UM, MSU, & IDT on January 6

Central Catholic High School will hold the Nationals Dance Showcase on Saturday, January 6, featuring The Ohio State University Dance Team, the University of Michigan Dance Team, the Michigan State University Dance Team, and Central Catholic’s own Irish Dance Team (IDT).

The event will take place in the Sullivan Center beginning at 2 p.m.  Doors open at 1:15 p.m.  Tickets are $20 and can be purchased at centralcatholic.org/tickets.

“We are honored to host the dance showcase at Central Catholic,” said CCHS Athletic Director Greg Dempsey.  “The Sullivan Center is one of the premier facilities in the state of Ohio, and IDT is a state power in the dance community.  We are a perfect fit to host the Buckeyes, Wolverines, and Spartans dance teams.”

“This is an exciting time for dance teams across the country, as they are reaching the culmination of their preparations to head to Orlando and compete in the Collegiate National Dance Team Championship!” said Melissa McGhee, OSU Dance Team coach and 2007 Central Catholic graduate.  “We are proud and excited to offer a sneak peek of three of the teams hailing from the Big Ten to showcase their performances in Toledo.  It was the perfect mid-point to bring together three different dance communities, and I'm thrilled that Central Catholic agreed to host the event.  CCHS has always played a pivotal role in bringing communities together, and this event is no different.  It brings three college communities together in a show of fantastic sportsmanship and will also feature routines from area high schools, including our very own Irish Dance Team!  We look forward to being together and celebrating all things dance at Central Catholic High School!”

Added IDT coach & CCHS alumna Nikki Toland ('08), “Central Catholic is excited to host the 1st ever College Dance Team Nationals Showcase.  This is a great opportunity for our team, school, and the dance community.  It's going to be a great event full of talented high school and college dance teams.  We are so happy to be a part of it!”
