Boys’ Basketball Sustains 71-35 Loss vs. Brother Rice at Home

The Central Catholic boys’ basketball team sustained a 71-35 loss against Brother Rice on Tuesday in the Sullivan Center. With the setback, CCHS falls to 6-9 overall, 0-5 in the Catholic High School League.

The visiting Warriors took control of the CHSL matchup by outscoring the Fighting Irish 21-4 in the 2nd quarter, spoiling the Scarlet & Gray’s 1st home game since January 5.

Freshman Isaiah Mack-Russell led Central Catholic with 11 points, followed closely by sophomore Manny Johnson with 10 points.

Elijah Williams paced Brother Rice (10-4) with a game-high 16 points, including 10 in the pivotal 2nd period.

The Warriors also benefited from double-digit scoring efforts by Warren Marshall (12 pts.) and Luke Salkowski (10 pts.), as well as 8 points each from David Williams and Trevor Smith.

Earlier in the evening, the CCHS freshman team suffered a 33-30 loss vs. Brother Rice, while the junior varsity squad tallied a 50-41 home setback.

Central Catholic will return to the court against Orchard Lake St. Mary’s on Friday, January 26 at 7 p.m. in the Dombrowski Fieldhouse.
