Braden Awls Signs National Letter of Intent with University of Toledo

Central Catholic football standout Braden Awls signed a National Letter of Intent with the University of Toledo on Wednesday in front of family, friends, and teammates on campus.

This past fall, Awls was named Division II 1st-team All-Ohio, 1st-team Northwest Ohio All-District, and 1st-team All-TRAC.

A 2-way standout at safety & wide receiver for the Scarlet & Gray, Awls helped the Fighting Irish capture their 5th OHSAA state championship in program history this fall (1962, 2005, ‘12, ‘14, ‘22). CCHS finished with a 15-1 overall ledger and a perfect 7-0 mark in the TRAC, capturing its 5th-straight conference championship and ending with a 32-game league win streak in the TRAC’s final season.

Awls becomes the 3rd member from the Class of 2023 to sign an NLI. Earlier this fall, boys’ basketball player Chico Johnson signed with Drake University, while girls’ track & field sprinter Mary Ellis signed with the University of Findlay.
