Girls’ Basketball Captain Brooklyn Vaughn Signs NLI with Loyola University Chicago

Central Catholic girls’ basketball senior Brooklyn Vaughn signed a National Letter of Intent with Loyola University Chicago on Thursday in front of family, friends, and teammates on campus.

A season ago, Vaughn garnered 1st-team All-Ohio Division II recognition according to the Ohio Prep Sportswriters Association. Vaughn earned all-state laurels for the 2nd-straight year. Two seasons ago, Vaughn was tabbed honorable mention All-Ohio. The 5-foot-11 forward averaged 15.5 points and 14.0 rebounds per game in 2022-23, totaling 19 double-doubles.

Vaughn is the 6th player in program history to be picked 1st-team All-Ohio, joining Ericka Haney (1997 & 1998), Courtney Mix (2000), Kelley Helvey (2003), Jessica Minnfield (2005), and most recently Byrdy Galernik (2016).

Vaughn helped the Scarlet & Gray post a 22-2 overall ledger in 2022-23, including a 13-1 mark in the Three Rivers Athletic Conference (TRAC). CCHS ranked No. 3 in the final Associated Press D-II state poll and captured its 2nd-straight conference championship in the league’s final season.

In addition to her outstanding play on the hardwood, Vaughn has been exceptional on the track. This past spring, she won a league title in the long jump at the TRAC Championship, as well as finishing 2nd in the 110-meter hurdles and 5th in 300-meter hurdles.
