Central Catholic Named “Best Private School” by Toledo City Paper

Central Catholic High School has been named the “Best Private School” in Northwest Ohio in the Toledo City Paper’s Best of Toledo 2020. Readers of the Toledo City Paper voted for their favorites in categories that included shops, services, professionals, food, art, music, and community. This is the 21st year the newspaper has been running this contest, and they had over 65,000 votes in the various categories for 2020.

Central Catholic is honored to have been chosen by the community for this distinction. In 2020, we celebrated 100 years of outstanding education. The Class of 2020 earned over $4.6 million in college scholarships, and the graduates were accepted into top universities across the country, including the American Musical and Dramatic Academy, Boston College, Northwestern, Ohio State, Purdue, University of Michigan, University of Notre Dame, and the United States Air Force Academy.

Central Catholic is committed to in-person learning and has worked diligently to provide a safe and effective learning environment throughout these difficult times. Our largest class is our freshmen class, giving us tremendous momentum going into our next century. We continue to focus on providing our students the best educational opportunities possible.

“Central Catholic High School is blessed to have amazing faculty and staff who help our students become the best version of themselves,” said Head of School Kevin Parkins. “Being the 'Best of Toledo' is a testament to their hard work and dedication. Go Irish!”

Priest Leader Fr. David Kidd added, “All the credit goes to our students, faculty, staff, alumni, families, and friends of Central Catholic! When you form disciples of Jesus Christ every day, people begin to notice the love of God in the world. All we can say is, Thank you, Jesus.”

“It's an honor for Central Catholic to be chosen as the ‘Best Private School' in Northwest Ohio,” said Athletic Director and Head Football Coach Greg Dempsey. “We have been serving Toledo and Northwest Ohio for over 100 years, and this is a great start to the next 100.”
