Alexandra Matus ’16 was sworn in to the Health Professions Scholarship Program for the United States Air Force

Alexandra Matus ’16 was sworn in to the Health Professions Scholarship Program for the United States Air Force on March 3. The ceremony took place at Central Catholic in front of the current CCHS students. Alex said she wanted to have the ceremony at a place that means so much to her and her family. Alex was introduced by her twin sister, Lyndsey Matus’16, who is currently a Second Lieutenant in the US Air Force, working toward her medical doctorate. Lyndsey was commissioned in February 2020.

At the ceremony, Head of School Kevin Parkins said, “We are excited to share in this moment with Alex and cannot thank her enough for being a great role model for our students!”

Alex added, “I wanted to have this ceremony at Central Catholic because it’s where my sister and I started understanding the importance of service. CCHS always offers opportunities for service, and the faculty and staff are great models of serving others. It’s such a family atmosphere and feels like home. Everyone is always so supportive, including the students, so it was important to me to be here and have my family here as well.”

Alex and Lyndsey attend medical school at The University of Toledo and will serve in the Air Force after they receive their degrees. They are both assistant coaches with the Central Catholic Lady Irish basketball team.
