Conference-Best 24 Football Players Earn All-TRAC Honors
Twenty-four members of the Central Catholic football team garnered All-TRAC accolades, the Three Rivers Athletic Conference office announced on Wednesday. The Scarlet & Gray’s 24 honorees are the most in the league.
The Fighting Irish (10-1, 7-0 TRAC), who won their 5th-straight Three Rivers Athletic Conference championship this fall and ended with a 32-game league winning streak in the final season of the TRAC, had a whopping 9 1st-team selections. That list included senior RB Chris Edmonds, who was selected Offensive Player of the Year, and senior LB Cody Schuberg, who earned co-Defensive Player of the Year. Head Coach Greg Dempsey also collected Coach of the Year recognition.
Joining Edmonds and Schuberg on the 1st team were junior OL Marc Nave, junior OL Kendric Bankston, senior PK Brian Bishop, junior DL Michael Cannings II, senior LB Deandre Ellis, senior DB Braden Awls, and senior DB Braiden Vargas. Awls earned 1st-team All-TRAC laurels for a 2nd-straight year.
Seven Fighting Irish received 2nd-team honors. They included senior WR Durye’a Hall, junior OL Elijah Williams, junior OL Tyrell Green, senior DL Tyler Jackson, junior DB Marvon Greenlee, senior RS Javon Murphy, and senior P Winston Delp.
Representing CCHS with honorable mention recognition were senior QB Ty’Waun Clark, junior OL Davonte’ Wright-Ward, senior WR Mekhi Warren, junior RB Marquan Braswell, junior DL Ronald Collins, senior LB Ramon Foster Jr., senior DB RJ Maddox Jr., and junior DB Jayden Barnes.
Central Catholic will return to the gridiron against Avon Lake (9-2) on Friday, Nov. 4 in the 2nd round of the Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA) Division II State Playoffs. The opening kick vs. the Shoremen is slated for 7 pm in Gallagher Stadium.
