Boys’ Basketball Drops CHSL Matchup at De La Salle Collegiate, 71-63
The Central Catholic boys’ basketball team dropped a 71-63 decision against De La Salle Collegiate on Friday in the Bill Fox Gymnasium. With the loss, CCHS falls to 8-7 overall, 3-4 in the Catholic High School League.
The Pilots’ Phoenix Glassnor poured in a game-high 41 points vs. the Fighting Irish, shooting a near-perfect 15-of-16 from the charity stripe. Glassnor helped the home team post a decisive 23-10 edge at the free-throw line.
Sophomore Isaiah Mack-Russell led CCHS with 20 points. A 2023-24 Division II Honorable Mention All-Ohio honoree, Mack-Russell has tallied at least 20 points on 5 occasions this season.
Junior Kaeden Carruthers added a season-best 13, followed closely by junior Manny Johnson with 11 points.
The Scarlet & Gray also received 9 points from junior Draden Wardrop and 7 points by junior Cailan Hornbeak but it was not enough against DLSC.
Earlier in the evening, the CCHS freshmen team dropped a 74-68 decision vs. De La Salle Collegiate, while the junior varsity squad secured a 71-57 road victory.
Central Catholic will return to the hardwood against Emmanuel Christian School on Saturday, February 1, starting with junior varsity contest at 5:30 p.m. at home. Prior to the start of tomorrow’s non-conference matchup, the Fighting Irish will recognize D'haron Flowers & Dominic Spinazze II on "Senior Night" in the Sullivan Center.
