Football Hosts Fremont Ross on Friday in Regular-Season Home Finale

The Central Catholic football team will entertain Fremont Ross on Friday, Oct. 14 in its regular-season home finale. The opening kick against the Little Giants (6-2, 3-2 TRAC) is slated for 7 pm in Gallagher Stadium.

Prior to kickoff, CCHS will honor 36 seniors from the fall sports of football, marching band, cheerleading, boys’ cross country, girls’ cross country, and girls’ tennis.

The Fighting Irish (7-1, 5-0 TRAC) are currently in 1st place in the Three Rivers Athletic Conference standings with only 2 games left in the regular season. With a victory against Fremont Ross, the Scarlet & Gray will secure at least a share of its 5th-consecutive TRAC championship.

CCHS is coming off an impressive 46-16 victory vs. Whitmer (5-3, 4-1 TRAC) on Friday at Whitmer Memorial Stadium. Central Catholic scored on the opening kickoff against the rival Panthers and never looked back en route to securing its 30th consecutive win in league play.

Senior RB Chris Edmonds finished with a game-high 184 yards and a touchdown on 21 carries. The 2021 1st-team All-TRAC honoree topped the century mark for the 7th-straight game. Senior QB Ty’Waun Clark also completed 5-of-11 passes for 88 yards and 2 scores.

Central Catholic, which is ranked No. 8 in the most recent Division II state poll, is a perfect 10-0 vs. Fremont Ross since the league’s inception in 2011. A season ago, the Fighting Irish secured a 35-14 road triumph vs. the Little Giants.

Fremont Ross enter Friday’s contest on the heels of a 35-6 home triumph vs. Lima Senior (3-5, 0-5 TRAC).

Tickets for Friday’s game can be purchased online at bit.ly/3KgpfKi. Friendly reminder, no tickets will be available to purchase at the gate.

For those fans unable to attend the contest, it can be heard live on The Ticket l 100.7 FM with the “Voice of the Irish” Bill Clark & Jim Oswald, starting at 6:30 pm or streamed online HERE.

Central Catholic will close out its regular season against rival St. Francis de Sales (1-7, 0-5 TRAC) on Friday, Oct. 21 at 7 pm in the Glass Bowl on the campus of The University of Toledo. Last fall, the Fighting Irish claimed a 49-7 home victory vs. the Knights. CCHS will look to register its 21st-consecutive win in the series and hold onto the Irish-Knight Trophy. Central Catholic has not lost to its arch rival since 2003.
